gas boiler and solid fuel boiler in tandem?

If i have a gas central heating system and buy a Wood burning stove with a back boiler could this in theory be connected into the system.

If you have a hot water tank then yes you can. If you have a combi boiler, no. I have just had a wood burner put in and asked my plumber this, and because I have an oil combi its was a non starter. My brother though has a hot water tank and it is combined with his stove. He says the only down side is that the hot water heats up before the radiators and in order to get the maximum effect he has had to have 2 pumps fitted to circulate the water around his house. His is a 17kw output stove- pretty big, and he sometimes wishes he’d not had the system combined. Just to give you an idea, he is in a 2up, 2 down cottage and his heating bills to run the stove is £35 a week! Ouch!!
