Can a cast iron wood stove-styled gas stove be converted to burning wood?

I’m not using a cast iron Jotul Nordic gas stove. If I line it with fire brick, can I use it to burn wood? It seems very similar in construction and weight to other true wood stoves. It is no longer hooked up to the gas, by the way…

ou have to line it with fire brick, It is a special brick that is used in Kilns and indoor stoves, I would get on the internet and find out where to buy firebrick. You would have to keep it at least 2 feet from the walls and make a chimney for the exhaust. The chimney doesn’t need to be lined with fire brick but can be a metal pipe, called chimney pipe, that goes from the stove to the brick chimney that runs outside. It’s a job that takes time and you would probably need a building permit.

I’d ask someone who knows Jotul stoves this question. Is there a dealer in your area? Maybe check their website if you can’t find anyone local to ask.
