which is best gas ,electric or wood burning stoves?

If you are talking cooking…I hate gas. I have cooked on Jennair and a fancy 5 burner Sears. You can’t get a good fry or sear on gas unless you use a big old iron fry pan. I spent a few days cooking on a ceramic flat surface cook top. Man I wish i had one…easier to clean than electric coils. But I vote electric.
Heating…I love wood but because of allergies I have a gas fireplace. Love it!

Utterly dependent on your specific circumstances.

Gas does not work if you don’t have a gas supply, but many people prefer them for the immediate and precise level of flame control. Electric is simple and clean, but not quite as precise as gas, and wood burning stoves need a chimney. Does the property have a chimney, most modern houses do not!

The answer AGA is a good one. When you ask to have an AGA fitted, the supplier checks out the local sources of fuel, and advises on that basis. The electric models use off peak storage, but there are gas and oil fired versions, although the solid fuel models have now been discontinued.

If you mean for heating a dual-fuel stove. It burns wood and coal.

the flame is immediate and you can adjust the amount of heat

dont like electrical as the plates stay hot and you cant clean them till they cool…

    Lots of people love AGA.

Wood burning stoves take a lot of wood (and that can be expensive if you don’t grow your own), and the smoke leaves dust and soot around the house. You will be doing a lot of maintenance, too. Shovelling out the ashes, and keeping the stove chimney clean. Not to mention, after a few years the caustic ashes can eat through the stove! Fire is also dangerous.

That said, there’s a great deal of romance to a wood stove. Chopping wood can keep you fit. You can boil water on the top, and have a humidifier as well as a heat source. Wood might make more economical sense in the future as gas prices rise.

There are good books about how to maintain a wood-burning stove — check your library.

As for gas and electric — they are very convenient. Depends on your local utilities as to which is better. I’d choose gas for the rangetop, electric for the oven.
