I think the temp is pretty accurate in the chamber as it is black from the smoke, in the feed tube I added air to create back pressure which would force any burning from getting into the tube, Thank u for ur interest. Mike

I’ve noticed in my own work that laser thermometers don’t do well with shiny surfaces like your heat exchanger.
I found this out when I was trying to get a temperature read on a shiny metal stovepipe. I kept getting low readings until I tested a spot that still had a paper UPC label on it.
The cure is to brush some soot or even a black sharpie on the surface first.
I’m curious how you handled the pellet feed problem: keeping the pellets from igniting in the tube is tricky.
